Telltale To Release New Details On Their Minecraft Game Soon

on

Back in December of 2014 Telltale Games, creators of serialized adventures based on famous properties, made the surprise announcement that they were doing something with Minecraft. After that, silence.

There’s still silence, but it’s about to be broken. Talletale tweeted an image of the logo for the Minecraft convention Minecon today, along the words “Let me tell you a story….” It seems to imply they are going to reveal the game very soon, and it’ll happen at that convention.

What we do know is that Telltale’s take on Minecraft is called “Minecraft: Story Mode” and that it’s a standalone game, not an expansion of the original. It’s expected to look slightly different, though the trademark blocky look will be preserved, and it will tell an original story that is “driven by player choice.” As the company said at the announcement last year, “Telltale’s series will mix new characters with familiar themes, in an entirely original Minecraft experience, inspired by the Minecraft community and the game that continues to inspire a generation.”

It’s not even known which machines Minecraft: Story Mode will be sold on, but we can assume the PC and some current-gen consoles will be on the list. Minecon 2015 will take place in London from July 4th to the 5th. Stay tuned this Independence Day for the full story…
