Is Steve a video game icon on the level of Mario? Mario’s got a headstart, but Steve is getting there.
This live-action video from andrewmfilms pits them against each other in an epic fight. The reason barely makes sense and doesn’t matter. Steve gets in several good licks with inventive gadgets and techniques that’ll be be familiar to Minecraft players, but it’s tough when someone like Mario has powerups just floating in the sky.
The CGI in the video is slickly produced and it’s quite well done overall, although of course the characterizations are off to force the fight. Steve isn’t a smirking jerk and Mario isn’t cruel, they’d be more likely to go on an adventure together than beat each other up.
