Minecraft Console Edition

No Release Date Yet for PS4, Xbox One and Vita Minecraft

Although the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Xbox One version of Minecraft are supposed to launch some time this month, the developer behind the ports, 4J Studios, is still holding back on committing to a definite release date.

4J took to Twitter to say that there are still too many bugs to squash to give a for-sure date.

“We’re still fixing #MinecraftXbox1, #MinecraftPS4 and #MinecraftPSVita bugs. We’ll let you know when we hand over to the Cert (certification) testing teams!” the developer tweeted.

Although this may be a disappointment to fans waiting on the upgraded version of the game, it’s better to have a less buggy game later than a buggy one earlier. The new versions of Minecraft for the Xbox One and PS4 promise better draw distances, larger worlds, and a number of other improvements. The Vita version will be similar to the PS3 version, with saves transferable between PS3 and Vita.

Current owners of the PS3 or Xbox 360 versions can upgrade to the Xbox One or PS4 version for just $5. The Vita version will be sold as a package with the PS3 version for $20. If you’ve already bought the PS3 edition, you get the Vita version for free.
