Minecraft Vita Shown at Tokyo Game Show

Gaming journalists were given some hands-on time with Minecraft for PlayStation Vita at this week’s Tokyo Game Show.

Kotaku’s Toshi Nakamura said he got to spend about 10 minutes with the demo, which he spent blowing things up with explosives. A lot of explosives and debris made the frame rate chug, but there wasn’t enough time to complete a big enough demolition project to try to crash the game, he said.

The Vita version of Minecraft will be similar to the PS3 version. In fact, it will be sold bundled in the same download and have compatible saves. Console edition creator 4J Studios recently said more work is required to fix bugs in the Vita version and there’s no firm release date, but seeing it show up at game shows is a good sign.
