According to Microsoft, the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft has now sold more than 12 million copies. That makes it one of the five top-selling Xbox 360 games of all time.
Mojang released an announcement about the milestone:
We’d like to offer our heartfelt thanks to all players on Microsoft’s console. Without your passion and creativity, Minecraft wouldn’t be anywhere near as significant as it is today. The same goes for anyone enjoying Minecraft on PC/Mac, Playstation 3, iOS and Android. You’re all equally nice.
Our porters at 4J also deserve a mention for their skills. Keep it up, dudes!
According to Wikipedia, across all platforms Minecraft has sold an estimated 44.2 million copies and is the third-best-selling video game of all time. Tetris is number one with 143 million copies. And Wii Sports is second with 81.99 million.
