Minecraft Ex-Boss Markus Persson Now Feeling “Isolated”

on

If you need further proof that money can’t buy happiness, look no further than Markus Persson, aka “Notch,” former CEO of Mojang. After he and his dev team created Minecraft, they enjoyed worldwide fame. Notch was already a millionaire before he met with Microsoft, but his deal to sell sell Mojang and the Minecraft rights to Microsoft to the tune of 2.5 billion dollars instantly made him one of the richest people on the planet.

Notch now lives in a Beverly Hills mansion he slapped down $70 million for, outbidding Jay-Z and Beyonce. He spent his days partying with Selina Gomez for a while, but ultimately, he ran out of things to do while not working. He recently expressed his feelings publicly in a string of increasingly depressing tweets, lamenting his loneliness and isolation — blaming part of it on the money.

“The problem with getting everything is you run out of reasons to keep trying, and human interaction becomes impossible due to imbalance. Hanging out in Ibiza with a bunch of friends and partying with famous people, able to do whatever I want, and I’ve never felt more isolated,” Notch said, probably sounding like Eeyore. He went on to describe how his personal life has been affected: “When we sold the company, the biggest effort went into making sure the employees got taken care of, and they all hate me now. Found a great girl, but she’s afraid of me and my life style and went with a normal person instead.”

The old adage remains true — if you have reliable friends, or a significant other, you are richer than people like Markus Persson. All he’s got is Selina Gomez.
