Dragon Quest Builders

Exact Release Date Revealed For Dragon Quest Builders

on

We now know the exact date of release for Dragon Quest Builders, Square-Enix’s Minecraft-inspired build-the-world game. Square announced today they’d be bringing the title Stateside on October 11, then to Europeans on October 14.

What’s more, they’ve also announced a Day One edition with extra exclusive goodies. Buy on the first day or close to it, and you’ll find a download code in the box that’ll give you these extras…

  • Springtide Sprinkles Recipe: An item that allows you to transform trees into festive Cherry Blossoms and soil into comfortable straw floor blocks.
  • Slimy Blocks Recipe: Allows you to craft delightful blocks adorned with cute blue Slimes! (The blocks aren’t actually slimy but they are super cute!)
  • Gold Blocks Recipe: Allows you to show off your opulent side with blocks made of pure gold!

So why does the Dragon Quest world need to be rebuilt anyway, besides riding on Minecraft’s coattails? Well, in the original Dragon Quest, there was a point in the game where the hero was asked by the villain if he would join him in his destructive ways. The player was expected to say “no” (and saying “yes” gave you an automatic Game Over). Dragon Quest Builders is based in the world where he said “yes” and demolished everything. Despite this, the tone is much happier than you might think.

You’ll be able to try out Dragon Quest Builders yourself this October on Playstation 4 and PS Vita.
