If you’re looking to try something a little different in your Minecraft diet, there’s always something out there for you. The latest darling is CivCraft, a server mod that tries to take some of those warm and fuzzy strategy memories from Side Meier’s Civilization games and plop them down in Minecraft.
According to the game’s wiki, CivCraft is a game that “allows you to create your own Civilizations in Minecraft! Just like in the actual games, you have to research and build up your Civ, only it’s first person, you can make different tiered items, and you can talk to all of your Civ mates.”
The game is very resource and time intensive, but that’s to be expected when creating a civilization, I guess, but players are encouraged to join with other players to make it easier to carry the load.
“Rather than controlling an entire civilization, players play as individuals and must band together to form groups. Starting with small camps, players eventually found their own civilizations where they can claim and protect land, research technology, engage in diplomacy and wage wars with other civilizations. The players write their own history,” the game’s official site says.
CivCraft is a server-side mod, which you can download here. You can check out more images from the mod here.
