The Lord of the Rings Comes to Life With Minecraft Osgiliath

on

Some hardcore The Lord of The Rings fans have recreated Osgiliath, the capital city of Gondor, the great ancient kingdom of the men of Middle Earth. Even if you’re not a fan of the J.R.R. Tolkien books, you might remember seeing it sacked by orcs in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.

The EpicQuestZ and Empire War build teams spent more than four months working on the project, and have created both a version of the city in the glory days of Gondor and of its later ruined version. Some features include:

– Over 180 original builldings
– Dome of the Stars
– Citadel of Gondor
– Barracks
– Theater
– Bazaar
– Memorial square
– Dozens of parks
– City Hall
– Shipping areas
– Memorial statues all over the city
– A massive river that is about 200 blocks wide
– Smaller rivers feeding into the large one
– Terrain for a very wide area around Osgiliath
– The Great City Wall
– The 4 Gates
– Some hidden easter eggs 🙂

You can find both the pristine version and the ruined version here at this link.
