VR Minecraft May Be Happening After All

on

When Facebook bought the promising virtual reality headset Oculus Rift earlier this year, Minecraft Creator Markus “Notch” Persson cancelled development talks about a version of Minecraft for the Oculus Rift. He made no excuses, he didn’t want the game to be associated with a company owned by Facebook.

But now Notch seems to have changed his mind.

“And about now I’m officially over being upset about Facebook buying Oculus. I’m upset about there being a hole in my favorite sock instead,” Notch tweeted.

That was  followed by a response from Oculus VR’s chief technology officer, the legendary ID Software developer John Carmack.

“Say the word, ship the source, and i’ll make sure It runs well on you-know-what…,” Carmack tweeted.

This is a promising development for people who want to see Minecraft in VR. There are unofficial solutions out there, but one directly supported by Mojang would surely work better and open up tons of possibilities for content taking advantage of the VR experience.
